About this worksheet

Animals grow and change in a life cycle. A butterfly begins as an egg, hatches into a caterpillar, rests in a chrysalis and comes out as a butterfly. A frog begins as an egg, becomes a tadpole that swims, grows legs and turns into an adult frog. A chicken hatches from an egg as a chick and grows into a hen that lays eggs of its own. Some animals look like small copies of their parents when they hatch, and others change a great deal.

In every case, the adult lays eggs and the cycle begins again. This worksheet gives three animals. For each one, four stages are printed in mixed order, and the child writes 1 to 4 next to them to show the order they happen. Ask your child to find the egg first.
