Our bodies have parts that do special jobs, and five of them are our senses. We see with our eyes, hear with our ears, smell with our nose, taste with our tongue and touch with our skin, especially our hands. The senses send messages to the brain, which tells us what is around us, such as a loud noise, a hot stove or a ripe fruit. Other parts do other jobs: our feet help us walk, our mouth lets us eat, our elbow lets our arm bend and our thumb helps us hold things.
Knowing what each part does helps a second grader take care of their body. This worksheet shows four pictures of body parts, and the child writes what each one does, choosing from the word box. Ask your child to close their eyes and use another sense to tell what is in their hand.
