Good manners are the small habits that help a group of people get along: waiting for a turn, listening when someone speaks, raising a hand, washing hands before a snack and saying hello. A child learns them by seeing and doing, so this page shows real children doing each one. Each box has three pictures and the child circles the one that shows raising a hand, listening, taking turns, washing hands, cleaning up or waving hello.
The other two pictures are plain activities such as reading or running, so there is one clear answer. Talk about when each habit helps, at school, at the table and on the playground, and practice one together today. Praise the habit by name, thank you for waiting, and children soon do it without being asked.

The page asks for the picture that shows raising a hand. One child sits at a desk with a hand up, one child reads and one child runs. The child with the raised hand is the answer.
Circling the picture the child likes best. Ask what the children are doing and why it is polite.
Look at what each child is doing, and ask whether it is a habit that helps a group.
