Kindness is something children do before they can say what it is, and a picture page is a good way to give it a name. Each box shows three pictures of children doing everyday things, and the child circles the one that shows helping, sharing, hugging, shaking hands, cleaning up or waving hello. The other two pictures are plain activities like reading or running, so there is one clear answer.
Talk about what happened in the picture: who is helping whom, and how does the other child feel? Then look for a chance to be kind today, such as carrying something for a friend, sharing a toy or saying hello first. Children learn kindness best when they see it, name it and are thanked for it, so notice kind acts at home and say what you saw.
