About this worksheet

A year has four seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter. Each one has its own weather, and the weather changes what plants and animals do. In spring the days get warmer, rain falls, flowers bloom and many animals have their babies. In summer the days are long and hot. In fall the weather cools, leaves change color and fall, and animals get ready for winter. In winter it is cold, the days are short, and in many places snow falls.

The seasons come in the same order every year, because the Earth travels around the Sun. This worksheet gives eight clues, and the child circles the season that each one describes. Ask your child to picture the clue and ask: how does the weather feel, and what are the plants and animals doing?

What your child will learn

  • Name the four seasons in order
  • Tell the weather of each season
  • Use clues about plants, animals and people to name a season
