A double is a fact where both numbers are the same, such as 4 + 4 or 7 + 7. Doubles are the easiest facts to remember, and they become the starting point for harder ones: once a child knows 6 + 6 is 12, then 6 + 7 is one more. On this grade 1 worksheet your child writes the sum of a double on the line after each equals sign, the whole way down the page.
A sheet has all ten doubles, from 1 + 1 to 10 + 10: the six versions put them in a different order. Say the double out loud together first, for example 'six and six', before writing the answer.
Common Core standard: 1.OA.C.6
For 6 + 6, think of two groups of 6. Count 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. Write 12 on the line.
Adding one number too few or too many when counting on, for example writing 11 for 6 + 6.
Say the double out loud, then count on from the number.
