About this worksheet

One letter has two shapes, and understanding that A and a are the same letter is the step that lets a child read a real page, where both appear in the same word. Some partners give themselves away: C and c, O and o, S and s are the same drawing at two sizes. Others share nothing at all, and G and g, R and r, E and e have to be connected by the name they share. This worksheet starts with the easy pairs, moves to the ones that look different and asks in both directions, and finishes with capitals whose small partner is hidden among small letters of exactly the same silhouette, so matching by shape stops working and the child has to use the name. Say the boxed letter's name out loud each time. That spoken name is the bridge between two shapes that do not resemble each other at all.
